Before your MOXI Laser treatment, a consultation will determine the best approach for your skin and help our providers dial in the treatment intensity to target your concerns.
While the treatment is generally well-tolerated, a numbing cream will be applied and left on for about 30 minutes to improve your comfort.
During the treatment, your provider will make several passes over the treatment areas with the MOXI laser, paying special attention to areas of particular concern. You will hear a gentle crackling/fizzing noise as the laser delivers fractionated laser energy to create micro-coagulation zones that will promote cell turnover.
You will feel heat, which will increase with multiple passes, and your provider will apply cooling wet gauze on the treated areas to help reduce discomfort.
After the treatment, you’ll likely experience some mild redness and swelling for 1 or 2 days. Makeup may be applied 24 hours post-treatment. On the second or third day after your treatment, you will begin to see MENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris), tiny dark spots where the old tissue is working its way out of the body as new, fresh skin is regenerated. Your skin will be very dry and have a “sandy” feeling as the MENDs start to flake and peel off over the course of 3-5 days.
For two weeks after the treatment it’s important to gently cleanse the skin twice daily, keep it well hydrated with a moisturizer, and protect it from the sun with sunscreen. You can see the full post-procedure care instructions here.
